Arghhhhh! From the Salty Seadogs!

Last Wednesday on the 20th of January we had a special Pirate Day at school where we all dressed up as scary Pirates! Some of our costumes had swords, skulls and eyepatches.

In the morning we were shocked to see a real Pirate come into school called Captain Burrwash who told us about Pirates like Blackbeard and Anne Bonney. Did you know that Blackbeards real name was Edward Teach? After the assembly Captain Burrwash visited our classroom to show us how a Pirates weapons work. He showed us a pistol, an axe, a roundshot and even a grenade. 'It was interesting and amazing' - Brooke. It was a little bit scary though because some of the weapons were very big and sharp!

In the afternoon we made scary Jolly Rodger flags for Captain Burrwash to put on his new ship. We decorated our flags with skulls, snakes and flames. We also had to make some posters for Captain Burrwash to advertise for a new crew for him.

To end the day we had another assembly where we showed Captain Burrwash our flags and posters to help him with his quest to find a new ship. Our Pirate day was FANTASTIC!
